General Counsel

Ameenah Capers

Ameenah serves as General Counsel at Banneker where she is responsible for providing legal counsel on construction litigation, real estate development, contract negotiations, and employment law. Ameenah is also responsible for proactively seeking business and coordinating the entire proposal and bid process to include drafting technical proposals and submitting proposal packages to clients. Since joining Banneker, she has assisted in winning over $50 million in firm fixed price construction contracts, plus an additional $550 million in IDIQ contracts. Ameenah earned her Juris Doctor degree from Howard University School of Law and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from Howard University. She has also completed certifications in Construction Contractors Legal Tool Box and Government Contracts Negotiation.
Before joining Banneker, Ameenah was a Senior Assistant District Attorney in the Special Investigations Unit at the Rockland County District Attorney’s Office in New York, where she focused on organized crimes, white-collar crimes, and crimes against revenue. Her early career includes roles as a Trial Attorney at Allstate Insurance Company and Assistant District Attorney in the Investigations Division at the Bronx County District Attorney’s Office, also in New York.
