Site-work in Support of the Department of State's FASTC in Blackstone, VA

Blackstone, VA

As the general contractor, Banneker prepared approximately 100,000 sq. ft. (2.5 acre) site for the U.S. General Services Administration for use by the Department of State in Blackstone, Virginia. The site was built to house the first buildings for the Foreign Affairs Security Training Center (FASTC) project, which will be established in Blackstone over 1,400 acres of land to serve as a consolidated location to improve training efficiency, minimize costs and provide real-time access to training venues.

Site construction included grading, trenching, installation of new underground water and sewer utilities and communication conduit, gravel and concrete paving, storm water management, and landscaping to prepare for the installation of temporary modular buildings.  Banneker worked alongside the modular building contractor, which required considerable coordination, and provided support when needed.  Additionally, Banneker provided concrete sidewalks, traffic signage, pavement markings, wheel-stops for parking spaces, and landscaping to complete the project and make it ready for use after the modular buildings were installed.
