KENILWORTH CAPTION 1

The Kenilworth Recreation Center project was one of twelve projects for which the District of Columbia Government, through a partnership of the Department of Parks and Recreation, Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development and District of Columbia Housing Authority, retained Banneker Ventures and Regan Associates to provide program management and project oversight services.

Banneker oversaw the procurement process for civil, survey, geotechnical engineering, architecture and general contractor services for the new Kenilworth Recreation Center project. It also oversaw the design stage from schematics through design development drawings, land use review, government review processes, moving of old furniture, abatement of the old facility, and community engagement meetings. Programmatic components for the Center include a gymnasium, health suite, day care, teen room, senior room, multi-purpose area, fitness center, dance studio, kitchen, locker rooms and administrative offices. The complex will include an exciting health and fitness oriented recreation building for seniors and teens.

The program calls for the demolition of the existing facility and construction of a new 21,000 square feet facility. This $14M facility is being designed to meet LEED Silver Standards.
