Banneker Ventures Announces Formation of the Banneker Foundation WASHINGTON, DC - March 18, 2009 - Banneker Ventures, LLC announced that it was forming the Banneker Foundation to formally manage charitable giving and activities for the firm. The Foundation will support charitable initiatives related to human capital development within the communities in which Banneker Ventures works. The Foundation will also encourage Banneker's employees and partners to volunteer, contribute funds and services, and serve on Boards of local organizations. The Foundation was a natural outgrowth to the firms work in inner city communities throughout the Washington region, including providing scholarships to college, summer internships at the firm, sponsorship of community events, Bannekers staff speaking at local schools and colleges, and service on numerous non-profit Boards by Banneker's staff. An important part of the Foundation is the firm's annual summer internship program which employs high school, undergraduate and graduate students to spend time in each of the firm's divisions helping the firm solve "real life" problems. The 2009 Summer Intern Class will mark the third year that Banneker has had an intern program. This intensive 10 week program enables students to work with various divisions of Banneker while gaining hands on experience in real estate development, construction management, and investment management. |
