Banneker Ventures Announces Receipt of HUBZone Certification by the U.S. Small Business Administration

Banneker Ventures announced today that the U.S. Small Business Administration has certified it a Historically Underutilized Business Zone (HUBZone) small business concern.   The HUBZone program encourages economic development in historically underutilized business zones – HUBZones – by providing access to certain federal contracting opportunities.

Upon receiving the certification letter from the U.S. Small Business Administration, Banneker’s President, Omar A. Karim, remarked that “We are proud to work with the SBA to put our focus in line with the efforts of the SBA, the Administration and Congress to promote economic development and employment growth in distressed areas by moving our offices to these areas and hiring staff who lived in these areas.   Becoming a HUBZone-certified company is more than talk.   Its about action and doing the things that our company does day in and day out—and that is hiring and training people who historically do not have opportunities to work on important federal, state and local construction projects within the very communities in which they live.”

Banneker Ventures is a full-service construction and facilities management company with offices in Maryland, Washington, DC and Colorado.   An SBA certified 8(a) and HUBZone small business, Banneker provides value added services to government agencies, quasi-government agencies and commercial clients.
