Banneker Ventures Completes Food Court Restoration Project at Ronald Regan Building and International Trade Center Caused by Major Fire

Banneker Ventures announced today that it has completed the restoration of the Food Court at the Ronald Regan Building and International Trade Center in downtown Washington, DC.

This high profile project was awarded to Banneker following a fire in the Food Court area of the Ronald Regan Building and International Trade Center that caused significant damage to the Food Court as well as all of the steel grease duct that support the restaurants that make up the Food Court.   Because the Ronald Regan Building hosts more than one million visitors and 1,200 events each year, Banneker had to work during evening hours and around the many events held in the Building.   Banneker’s scope of work included demolishing and replacing nearly 200 linear feet of steel duct destroyed by the fire, rebuilding the Food Court area, including installing new lights, walls, fire alarm systems, HVAC systems and new painting.

Banneker Ventures’ President, Omar A. Karim, remarked that “Working with GSA on this project in the Ronald Regan Building and International Trade Center was a great honor.   We are extremely happy to be able to help GSA bring back this part of the Food Court caused by this devastating fire at the Ronald Regan Building.   I am grateful to GSA, our sub-contractors (all of whom are small businesses) and our staff who worked through the holidays to bring this space back up for GSA and the Ronald Regan Building and International Trade Center.”

The Ronald Regan Building and International Trade Center is the largest structure in Washington, DC at 3.1 million square feet.   It is the only federal building dedicated to both government and private use and is mandated by Congress to bring together the country’s best public and private resources to create a national forum for the advancement of trade. Banneker Ventures is a full-service construction and facilities management company with offices in Maryland and Washington, DC.   An SBA certified 8(a) small business, Banneker provides value added services to government agencies, quasi-government agencies and commercial clients.
