Banneker Completes Design-Build Construction Project at Chapel Warehouse for U.S. Army Mission Installation Contracting Command – Fort Belvoir

Today, Banneker announced the completion of a design-build construction project at the Chapel Warehouse on Fort Belvoir for the U.S. Army.   This construction project was awarded to Banneker by the Mission Installation Contract Command at Fort Belvoir after a negotiated contract process.

The project involved the full design and engineering of an industrial warehouse that is managed by the Army’s Chaplin at Fort Belvoir.   Following approvals of the design, Banneker was responsible for moving all of the existing furniture out of the warehouse and storing it in trailers while it built new storage spaces within the warehouse and exterior stairs outside of the warehouse.   Upon completion of construction, Banneker relocated the furniture back into the warehouse.

Banneker Ventures’ President, Omar A. Karim, commented that “MICC’s trust in Banneker to work on this sensitive project with the Office of the Chaplin is evidence that having successful past performance with the Department of Defense, particularly the U.S. Army, leads to opportunities that you would have never guess existed.   The Base’s Chaplin and his staff were supportive throughout the design and construction process and it was a pleasure working with them as well as the DPW staff who coordinated the work.”

Banneker Ventures is a full-service construction and facilities management company with offices in Maryland and Washington, DC.   An SBA certified 8(a) small business, Banneker provides value added services to government agencies, quasi-government agencies and commercial clients.
