Banneker Ventures Replaces Hill International at FDA’s New Consolidated Campus in Montgomery County, Maryland

Banneker Ventures announced today it has been awarded a multi-year contract with the U.S. General Services Administration to provide construction management and commissioning expert services at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s new consolidated campus located on 160 acres in Montgomery County, Maryland.  Once completed, the 4.5M square feet campus will replace all the existing fragmented FDA facilities which support the FDA’s Office of the Commissioner, Office of Regulatory Affairs, Center for Drug Evaluation and Research, Center for Devices and Radiological Health, Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research and offices for the Center for Veterinary Medicine.

Banneker replaces Hill International, the largest construction management firm in the United States, on this multi-year contract.  Banneker’s work will involve providing construction professional support,  commissioning oversight and project close-out services for GSA’s Facilities Staff for the remaining 1.7M square feet of construction that is either underway or that will be built in the next few years.  Facilities that Banneker will work on include several laboratory buildings, office buildings, the largest child care center in GSA’s portfolio, a central utility plant expansion and parking garage.

Banneker is serving as the prime contractor to GSA’s Facilities Staff and is being supported by Jacobs Engineering, which is providing commissioning oversight services for the project.  The seven different structures that Banneker is providing services for are expected to reach substantial completion on an on-going basis beginning Fall 2011 through 2014.
