The Banneker Foundation supports charitable initiatives related to human capital development within the communities in which Banneker Ventures works. Founded in 2009, the Foundation encourages Banneker's employees and partners to volunteer, contribute funds and services, and serve on Boards of local non-profit organizations. The Banneker Foundation was created to maximize and channel the firm’s and its partners efforts to effectively change the world . . . one community at a time. At a time when the need for the private sector to do more now than ever, invest in people more now than ever, and give back to the communities in which companies work now more than ever, the Banneker Foundation aims to be an answer to this need. An important part of the Foundation is the firm's annual summer fellowship program which employs high school, undergraduate and graduate students to spend time in each of the firm's divisions helping the firm Change the World. The 2009 Summer Fellowship Class will mark the third year that Banneker has had Fellows. This intensive 10 week program enables young people to work with various divisions of Banneker while gaining hands on experience in all facets of community development.
